Fissure in Ano
A fissure in ano refers to a small tear or crack in the lining of the anus. It usually causes pain and bleeding during bowel movements. Fissures are commonly caused by constipation, passing hard stools, or chronic diarrhea. Symptoms include sharp pain, bright red blood on the stool or toilet paper, and sometimes itching or irritation around the anus. Treatment often involves dietary changes, increased fiber intake, topical medications, and, in severe cases, surgical intervention.
